| You don't need a fancy
expensive camcorder to create your own Internet video, but
you DO need good lighting and an external microphone. I use
a professional from
B&H Photo. But they have other models, too. Built-in camera microphones pick up
all the ambient noise which is not conducive for audio that
sells. Editing your
video for the Internet is fairly easy, especially if the file is small. Too
large a file will cause your viewer to leave, impatiently
waiting for it to load on their 'slower' computer.
Windows XP has a free
program called Window Movie Maker. It's user friendly. Apple
computers come with I-Movie installed.
Save your edited "website" video as .avi
and convert it to a flash file for Internet use. I use a
program called FlixPro. It has a lot of variables.
Make sure your embedded
video player has controls for your viewer to stop, play,
rewind, etc. such as the player used above.
| You need video on
your website when: |
| 1. You sell a
physical product and want to demonstrate it. |
| 2. You sell a
digital product and want to talk about it. |
| 3. You sell a
service and want to introduce it. |
There's a hot new piece of
software that will POP your video onto your website.
Although we don't use it personally, it's a unique way to
grab the attention of a visitor and you may be interested in
using it. It's called "Video
Pop-In Genius". Take a look.
If you already use video on
your website, or plan to do so, we also found a site for
"skins" to customize your videos with themes . . . even to
look like Blockbuster! By entering your email in a box, you
can receive 2 no-cost templates to try. These
video templates work with Google, YouTube, MySpace,
Yahoo, iFilms, Vimeo, VSocial, etc. Imagine the FUN!
